Man Avoids Death Sentence

{Louisville, Kentucky}…Former Kentucky National Guard soldier 41 year old Miguel Angel “Mickey” Soto, who had been sentenced to death, has reached a deal to avoid possible execution. Soto was convicted in the June 29, 1999 death of his former in-laws, 65 year old Armott Porter and his wife, 58 year old Edna Porter, of Crestwood. The deal does not include Soto’s 50 year sentenced for the attempted murder of his ex-wife, Armotta Porter, and firing a shot in the direction of his daughter, then 3 year old Brianne Porter. Soto agreed to waive his appeals rights in state court, but he will be allowed to ask a federal judge to throw out his conviction.
