Nell Llewellyn, a former social worker for the Hardin County Schools,
has left a $2.42 million endowment for college scholarships there. Llewellyn's
gift is expected to generate about $100,000 a year and is the largest
philanthropic gift in the county's history. Another $1 million will eventually
be added to the endowment, adding an additional $40,000-$50,000 for
scholarships each year. Schools Superintendent Nanette Johnston says the
scholarships are need-based and can be used at any college or university.
