Gubernatorial Candidates Differ On Abortion
{Kentucky}...Democratic Governor Steve Beshear has staked out a stand on abortion that differs from his two challengers in the November 8th general election. Republican David Williams said he strongly opposes it, and Independent Gatewood Galbraith says he considers it "the taking of innocent human life," while Beshear says women should have the right to decide whether to abort pregnancies. State politicians often compete for endorsements from anti-abortion groups, particularly Kentucky Right to Life. Williams beat out Galbraith to win that endorsement. Beshear wasn't a contender for that endorsement because of his position on the issue.
