The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources are investigating the incident which occurred in Calloway County. The agencies said in a news release the dead eagle was found last November near New Concord, but a recent necropsy found it had been shot. Information that leads to conviction is worth $2,500 to the tipster. Tips can be phoned to the state agency at 1-800-25ALERT. U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent Bob Snow said whoever shot the eagle has likely told someone about it. Bald eagles are protected by two wildlife acts and harming them can bring up to a year in prison upon conviction.
