- (Kentucky) Preliminary statistics indicate that eleven people died in nine separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. Ten of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and five of the victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Casey,
Daviess, Grayson, Hopkins, Nicholas and Rockcastle counties. Two double-fatality crashes occurred in Kenton and Warren counties. One motorcycle-involved fatal crash occurred in Madison County and thevictim was not wearing a helmet. The suspected use of alcohol was a factor in this crash.Through August 7, 2011, preliminary statistics indicate that 403 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2011. This is forty-six less fatalities than reported for the same time period in 2010.
