Government Spending Millions On Louisville Veterans Hospital

{Kentucky}...The federal government is spending $13 million and has slated another $10 million for improvement projects and updates at a 60 year old Veterans Affairs Hospital in Louisville it is planning on replacing. National and local VA officials say the work on the Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center is necessary because the replacement facility wouldn't open for at least five years and the current demands of health care delivery must be met now. Work at the hospital includes a $2.2 million state-of-the-art surgical intensive care unit that opened last month, a planned $10 million parking garage and a $4.8 million addition that will include an expanded polytrauma clinic for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
