{Kentucky}...Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway's office has joined a federal lawsuit against Pittsburgh-based Education Management Corp., a company that operates for-profit colleges in dozens of states, including Kentucky. The U.S. Justice Department and attorneys general from California, Illinois, Florida and Indiana intervened Monday in the whistleblower lawsuit that claims the company broke a 1992 law prohibiting for-profit colleges from paying recruiters incentive compensation. Conway's office said Tuesday the company is the parent of Brown Mackie College, which has campuses in Louisville, Hopkinsville and Fort Mitchell. Last month, Conway announced the state would seek a multimillion-dollar judgment against Daymar College, a for-profit school based in Owensboro.
