Pseudoephedrine Bill In Senate
{Frankfort, Kentucky}...The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 7-4 Thursday for a bill by Senate Majority Leader Robert Stivers of Manchester that would limit over-the-counter purchases of cold, sinus and allergy medicines that contain pseudoephedrine. But, it was passed over on the Senate floor several hours later. Stivers said the bill would not be brought back before the Senate for a vote on Friday, but Sen. Jerry Rhoads, D-Madisonville, who offered a floor amendment, said he was told by Senate leadership it would receive a vote with the amendment Friday morning. Stivers' latest bill would allow the purchase of up to 3.6 grams per month or 15 grams a year of drugs that contain ephedrine, pseudoephedrine or other ingredients used to make meth without a prescription. Gel caps and liquids would be excluded from the limit because making meth from those forms of the medicine is more difficult.
